The ARA (African Refiners and Distributors Association) is the first ever pan-African organisation for the downstream oil sector in Africa. Founded in 2006, the ARA comprises Members from African oil refiners, importers, terminal operators, major marketers, distributors and regulators.
The ARA is a platform for improved between African refiners and international marketing, trading, engineering and financial services companies, offering excellent opportunities for international companies to engage with the African downstream and develop opportunities across the continent.
Every year, the ARA organises ARA WEEK, an African downstream oil conference, held in Cape Town. In addition to ARA WEEK, the ARA organises an annual forum, work group meetings and technical seminars held throughout Africa. ARA Members look forward to sponsors’ participation in these events to find solutions to challenges and improve standards of health, operation and efficiency as well as a range of other areas.
ARA sponsors are companies ranging from major international oil companies, international trading companies, shipping companies, inspectors, local trading companies, international banks and equipment and technology providers to the downstream industry.
