Esther Anku is currently the Director of the Inspection, Monitoring and HSSE Division of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) in Ghana. Her responsibilities include monitoring the facilities and activities of licensed Petroleum Service Providers to ensure they operate according to best practice and protocols in the industry.
She joined the National Petroleum Authority in 2007 as the senior manager in charge of licensing, following its establishment in 2005 to regulate the downstream petroleum industry.
Prior to joining the NPA, she worked at the Environmental Protection Agency in Ghana and was involved in the registration and granting of environmental permits to various companies in the chemicals and petroleum products industry.
She acquired a Master of Philosophy degree in Environmental Science at the University of Ghana after obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in 1990 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. She has also attended several courses and acquired various certificates in the area of health, safety and environment, among others. Her hobbies include reading and listening to music.
